Portuguese Rolls


Portuguese Rolls 

6 cups cake flour

1 cup selfraising flour

1 & ½ tsp salt

7 Tblps milk powder(cremora)

3 &½ Tblsp sugar

2 pkts instant dry yeast

Mix above together well

Mix together 

1 cup milk(lukewarm)

1 & ⅔ cups water(lukewarm)

¼ cup oil

Add liquid to the dry ingredients and knead well until elasticity stage

About 10 minutes 

Place dough in an oiled dish and let it rise in a warm place until doubled 

Break off about 25 pieces

Form into an oblong rolls

Take the handle of a wooden spoon and press it down in the centre down the length of the rolls to the bottom

Or slit with a sharp knife

Brush rolls with water and sprinkle flour over the rolls

Let it rise another 20 minutes then bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes or if you want it a bit more brown Then bake it a further 4 minutes..

For extra crispness add boiling water to a stainless steel dish and place it at the bottom of the oven while baking

Very delish..
